With direct monitoring you will hear no delay of your vocal in regards to the playback coming from your computer. The recording in Ableton will be perfectly in sync with the rest of the music thankfully. That's why direct monitoring is such a great solution.

Yes, most musicians will be happy with Logic's Mastering plugin. Ozone is for people that really know what they want and how to get there, like trained engineers. So just as you wrote, when you want a quick master of your Logic project, use its mastering plugin.

I think you didn't quite get the point of the video, and probably didn't even watch it all the way through. This is not a tutorial on Mastering with Logic's Mastering Assistant, or Ozone. It's about comparing the result after Logic's and Ozone's Mastering Assistant AI did its thing without manually changing anything afterwards. The video is just about that. Sorry that this didn't come through clearly enough for you. I just wanted to see how the AI algorithms compare. Hope this helps. Cheers!

I agree that Ozone is the more professional way to go, and I say so in the video. And those that don't have Logic Pro won't be able to use Logic's free mastering assistant anyway. I just wanted to show that it can come in handy when you have Logic Pro and want to master a song quickly for demo purposes with pretty good results.

@@MarkYeeDaMajor True . But you have to understand that you never have to pay for a Logic Pro upgrade. 15 years ago I bought Logic Pro for 200 Dollars and never had to pay for any upgrade since. The downside is that you have to upgrade your computer frequently to run the newest features. In comparison, I spend 2300 Dollars on iZotope Ozone with all the payed upgrades over 12 years. That's the costs of a beautiful brand-new M3 MacBook Pro.

@@MarkYeeDaMajorActually not true. Apple Silicon chips have some AI hardware that Intel chips simply don't have. Of course Apple could do the work twice, and somehow make it work on Intel chips too, but why? Intel is in the past now. If anybody is just a little bit serious about music and likes Logic, just get at least an M1 mac mini for a few hundred bucks. It is amazing. Huge difference compared to Intel. When everything is running natively (OS/Logic/all third party plugins) the experience is just amazing with Logic.

Yes, there is now. Since I published this video Logic implemented a new feature that lets you do it. You find it in the manual assuming you have the newest version.

@@musictrainingonline I don't think there is. The new functionality still doesn't do what everyone would reasonably expect from it - the MIDI equivalent of bouncing to audio. I want to place some MIDI effects and have the option to bake them into my MIDI region. I imagine I can do some MIDI routing to achieve this in the Environment view which they are so ashamed off they have it hidden. The only way to do this properly is a 3rd party plug-in it seems. Which is profoundly idiotic for such a basic task.

@@orbitfold You are right. In order to run a recorded midi region through any of the FX plugins and then have Logic record the output you still have to do it the way I explained it in the video. But with the new feature you can at least record the midi FX plugins output in real time as you play your midi keyboard. The following is straight out Logic's menu: Record MIDI plug-in output in Logic Pro for Mac "Record MIDI to Track Here' lets you record the output of MIDI effects to a MIDI region on a track. For example, instead of just recording the notes you play to trigger the effects, Record MIDI to Track Here lets you record their real-time processed output, allowing precise editing of the resulting notes and controller data. Add Record MIDI to Track Here To capture the output of plug-ins, add Record MIDI to Track Here to the slot after the last MIDI plug-in you want to record. Any other plug-ins after the Record MIDI to Track Here slot will not be included in the recording. To record the output of MIDI effect plug-ins, do the following: Insert the MIDI plug-ins you want to record. Click the arrows near the right edge of the last MIDI plug-in in the chain that you want to record. Choose Record MIDI to Track Here from the MIDI plug-ins pop-up menu. Record your sequence to a MIDI region. Note: Record MIDI to Track Here will appear as two small yellow triangles in the MIDI Effect slot, directly below the plug-in where it was inserted.

The pianist has played with Claudio Roditi, Paquito D'Rivera, Joe Henderson, Romero Lubambo just to name a few. The drummer with Toots Thielemans, Airto Moreira and Flora Purim, Johnny Alf, Tito Puente, Arturo O’Farrill, Claudio Roditi, Romero Lubambo, Helio Alves, etc.

Antônio Carlos Brasileiro de Almeida Jobim was a Brazilian composer, pianist, guitarist, songwriter, arranger, and singer. Considered one of the great exponents of Brazilian music. So are you saying he did it wrong?

Thanks much for the kind words. To answer your question. Yes! You can insert the notes you want to be played back as usual before applying the Rhythmic Notation style. You can even do this for bass and piano by using layers and assigning different sounds to each layer. This can get tricky though.

@@JP1979TRP Jason, Finale can play back chord symbols, as long as you start out with a template. I recommend the handwritten jazz template, to make sure it understands the chords you enter correctly. But honestly, I am too picky about how I want the voicings to sound like, so I disable chord playback and enter my own voicings.

Should work exactly the same way. You record the output of the midi instrument channel by sending it through the IAC driver to a new track you recordist on.

@@musictrainingonline Pigments arp cannot be accessed as a midi effect. I was able to capture MIDI in Ableton from Pigments but not in Logic. If you have a chance to try it out and get it to work let me know please.

@@RaddMann3 I don't know this plugin, but as long as it outputs midi you should be able to bus it through the Macs IAC driver and record it to a new track. However, if it simply creates audio not midi information, this will not be possible in any DAW.

@@musictrainingonline So I tried it last night and I can't get it to work. Arturia Pigments is a synth plugin. It has a very nice ARP and Sequencer built into the plugin that takes midi notes from track and plays complex arps or sequences. Since it sits in the synth plugin slot instead of the MIDI fx slot I can't change it to external instrument. The problem becomes that I don't know how to route MIDI out from the Pigments plugin to IAC. I have heard that Logic AU synth plugins are not allowed to output MIDI and this may be why I can't do it. I would really love to know if anybody can give me a good answer.

This video is about Finale. I know however that you can manually change the spacing between staves in Musescore too, but you have to do it for each staff individually. There is no way to do this globally in Musescore.

What happened to George Floyd that day is one of the most horrible things I have ever seen - a live execution of an innocent man by the police. I am so glad this police officer sits in jail now.
